Did you hear that Twitter has a new logo? Note that Twitter is no longer spelled twitter. It’s official from Twitter: “Please remember to capitalize the T in Twitter and Tweet.”
Twitter has issued a lengthy set of guidelines for use on its official website. Way longer than a 140-Tweet and rather stern, considering how casual most conversations are on Twitter. Make a mistake, and you get the feeling that the company’s lawyers might come after you. (I promise to update my icon).
The Official Bird
This is the blue-on-white version. If you go to the guidelines page, Twitter allows you to download four different versions for your use.
How do you like the new bird?

No, I didn’t know they changed and made an “official” capital letter for their name. But then, I guess I always thought it was capital. Not very observant of me. I’m not sure I like that bird better. What do you think?
Bethany — Twitter just made this change a couple of days ago. From what I’m reading a lot of people think it’s much ado about nothing. I personally loved all the fun variations on the bird that you could get in Google images and other stock photo sites. The new bird is a little generic for my tastes.
Actually it was very smart marketing…we’re all talking about how little it means! Many thanks for all you do, Jeannette!
Touche, Jackie. They’ve certainly got the buzz going!
Yeah, I agree. I loved all the fun little twitter pics you could get around the web. A little bland for my tastes too. But as long as it tweets, I guess its ok.

I agree that it is a little bland. I’ve been behind the scenes when I was with ad agencies and also managing advertising at major companies. You do all kinds of research on logos and tag lines and new campaigns. Everybody on the team becomes enamored with the design, the creativity!! Then it gets released to the public — and they yawn!
LOL! Too funny, but so true. Sometimes the simplest designs take the most meetings, money and time to come up with.
