Hire a hero, jobs for veterans

Give Thanks by Giving Jobs to Our Veterans

As we celebrate Thanksgiving this year let’s be thankful to the men and women who have served our country so valiantly to protect us from harm. What they need on their return to civilian life is jobs.

Re-entry isn’t always easy, especially if they have wounds and stress-related ailments that require special attention.  That’s why it’s so important for us to do everything we can to ease their transition.

Hire a Hero

Hire a Hero is a job board for veterans. If your company has openings, then seriously consider hiring a veteran. You can post jobs on the Hire a Hero site. If you don’t have job openings to list, then consider making a donation to the organization.

I am so grateful to these warriors for protecting my freedom. How lucky I am to be living in a great country when so many refugees around the world are desperate to find countries that will accept them so they can start a new life. Let us say a prayer for them as we celebrate this holiday with family and friends.

My best wishes to you for a Happy Thanksgiving with your loved ones.

  1. Veterans really do need our support. It especially difficult for veterans who come back wounded. It is great to see that there are organizations that are dedicated to keeping veterans employed.

    • Erica — I started writing posts about organizations last year with Wounded Warriors. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate our veterans.

  2. Agree with you completely, Jeannette. American companies should give jobs to your veterans.

Am personally, on top of everything else, teaching Syrian refugees Swedish and how Sweden works. They are people just like you and me, educated and successful who suddenly lost everything because they were in Syria and either barrel bombed by Assad or in a place ISIS had invaded. The United States really should take more refugees from Syria because if you had not invaded Iraq ISIS would not exist and the Arab Spring would not have taken place either and there would be no civil war in Syria. Only a handful out of the 1.5 billion Muslims in this world are jihadists.

    • I agree, Catarina, and I admire you for extending help to Syrians who need it. Iraq was a big mistake and now the Republican candidates are demonizing all Muslims because it’s good politics. The campaign here is getting very ugly.
